Roofing Advisors UK Ltd were appointed by CBRE Limited to carry out essential roofing works at a critical operational facility for a national telecomunication company which operates the main 999-call centre for Central Scotland.
The 300m² roof area had an existing inverted ballast asphalt finish, which was fully removed to allow for a modern liquid-applied membrane system. The new system was installed in accordance with Sika specification reference 0394620A and comprised a liquid membrane with glass fibre mat reinforcement, primer and adhesive.
As part of the project, new lightning protection systems, freestanding handrails and external ladders were also installed to enhance roof safety and ensure compliance with current access and maintenance standards.
Completed in January 2024, this project delivered a seamless, high-performance liquid roofing solution suitable for a live operational building with zero tolerance for disruption. The Sika liquid membrane system provided a fully bonded, flexible and watertight finish, ideal for extending the service life of the roof in a high-stakes environment. The integration of new safety systems has also improved future maintenance access and protection for site personnel.
