Project Outline
Roofing Advisors were appointed to deliver a full re-roofing contract at East Park School in Glasgow, working in close collaboration with the school, the appointed architect, and the main contractor. Our consultation process identified the longstanding issues associated with the school buildings, ensuring the correct choice of materials and design could be implemented while working within the school's budget.
Our Contracting division delivered a full re-roofing programme across the school estate, encompassing:
• Strip and replacement of existing roof coverings across multiple building elevations
• Material specification and design selection in collaboration with the architect
• Full coordination with the main contractor throughout the programme
• Design and installation of a permanent mansafe / fall arrest system, carried out by our Height Services division
The full re-roofing project was completed within the agreed 20-week timeframe which is a significant achievement given the complexity of the environment and the level of coordination required. Delivery on programme is a direct reflection of the quality of pre-construction planning and the responsiveness of our on-site team throughout the works. The completed roofing works addressed the longstanding issues identified at the outset, leaving East Park School with a weathertight, durable roof covering that will serve the building reliably for years to come.
Mansafe System
Recognising that a newly re-roofed building also requires a safe framework for future maintenance, our Height Services division took the initiative to design and install a robust mansafe system as part of the overall project scope. This permanent fall arrest system ensures that any maintenance contractor accessing the roof in the future can do so safely and in compliance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. Installing the mansafe system during the re-roofing programme (rather than as a separate, future engagement) was a practical and cost-effective approach for the school, avoiding additional mobilisation costs and minimising future disruption to the site.
