Project Overview

Roofing Advisors were appointed by Low Energy Serviced Limited to deliver a permanent, certification-ready roof safety access solution at a pharmaceutical warehouse in East Kilbride. The scope covered the full design, supply, installation, and certification of all access equipment - ensuring that the rooftop solar array could be safely and compliantly maintained for the life of the installation.

Scope of Works

Our Height Services and Compliance division delivered a comprehensive roof access package, including:

• Fixed roof guardrails - perimeter and zone protection designed and installed to BS EN 13374 standards
• Fixed anti-slip roof walkways - providing safe, defined access routes across the roof surface to and from the solar array
• External roof access staircase - a permanent, fabricated stair tower providing ground-level to rooftop access
• Foundations for roof access staircase this required planning approval and civils were organised by our team

All elements were designed, supplied, installed and certifiedby our team, with manufacturers AKM (guardrails and walkways) and Safety Fabrications (staircase) selected for their proven performance in rooftopaccess applications.

Project Outcome

A Compliant, Future-Proofed Rooftop

The completed installation gave the pharmaceutical warehouse a fully certified, permanent roof safety access system, meaning maintenance operatives working on the solar PV array have clearly defined, safe access routes from ground level to the panels themselves. Guardrails provide continuous perimeter protection, anti-slip walkways eliminate the risk of slips and falls on the roof surface, and the external staircase removes the need for ladders ortemporary access equipment for routine maintenance visits.

The system was handed over with full certification documentation, supporting the client's ongoing compliance obligations under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
