The project presented a logistical challenge from the outset — completing a significant package of external works on a live, operational drive-thru site with minimal disruption to the business.
The Scope of Works
Our works at KFC Paisley cover the complete replacement of the existing external render system, including:
Both Knauf Aquapanel and K Rend are well-regarded, performance-proven products in the external render market. The combination of a reliable render board substrate and a quality acrylic finish system ensures the completed works will perform well and maintain their appearance over the long term.
Keeping the Drive-Thru Open
The defining challenge on this project was not the render system itself — it was the requirement to deliver the works without closing the drive-thru at any point during the programme. For a high-footfall commercial operator like KFC, closing the drive-thru is not simply an inconvenience. It has a direct and immediate impact on revenue and customer experience.
To keep the drive-thru fully operational throughout, our team designed and installed bespoke beam sections within the scaffold structure, allowing vehicles to continue using the lane without interruption while works progressed above and around them. Night shifts were also worked to get the scaffold and key elements in place with minimum disruption to daytime operations.
