At Roofing Advisors UK Ltd, we are committed to delivering the most accurate, detailed and efficient inspections possible for our clients. That commitment is reflected in our latest investment: new drone technology that significantly strengthens the capabilities of our Consultation division, with a particular focus on 3D building modelling and analysis.
Introducing the DJI Matrice 4 Series
We have recently equipped our survey team with the DJI Matrice 4 Series, one of the most advanced commercial drone platforms currently available. This technology allows us to generate highly accurate 3D models of client properties, producing a full digital representation of both the building fabric and the roof.
For building owners and asset managers across Scotland and the UK, this represents a meaningful step forward in how roofing and building inspections are carried out. Rather than relying solely on visual observations from ground level or traditional access methods, we can now capture comprehensive data from the air and translate that into detailed, measurable 3D models.
What 3D Building Modelling Means in Practice
Once a 3D model is generated, our Consultation team can analyse the full condition of a structure with a level of precision that simply wasn't possible before. Specifically, this capability allows us to:
This is particularly valuable for large or complex commercial buildings, historic structures, or any site where access presents a challenge. Rather than making assumptions based on limited visibility, our clients receive a detailed, data-backed assessment of their asset.
Qualified, Regulated and Ready
Technology is only as effective as the people operating it. To support this new capability, our Survey and Consultation lead, Paul Marley, recently completed specialist training for his General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) at Carberry Tower. This qualification ensures that all drone surveys carried out by Roofing Advisors UK Ltd are delivered in full compliance with current Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and industry best practice.
This matters. Drone operations in commercial and built-up environments require proper certification, risk assessment and operational planning. Our clients can be confident that every survey we deliver meets the required legal and professional standards.
Part of a Growing Consultation Division
This investment does not stand alone. It reflects the continued development of our Consultation division, which provides building owners, housing assocations facilities managers and property professionals with expert, independent advice on roofing, height safety and wider building assessments.
As that division grows, so does the depth of insight we can offer. 3D building modelling sits alongside our existing survey and reporting capabilities, giving clients a more complete picture of their assets and a stronger foundation for making informed decisions about maintenance, repair and capital works planning.
